New Hat
I’m trying to post at least one picture a day this finals season. I think I already missed a day, but whatever. Most of these pics will be just taken with my phone though since my 5D is all packed up.

I walked into my room the other day to this sight. (Sorry Stephen! HAHA. Oops just revealed his identity)
Saturday Morning Blues

Took this while walking to my final this afternoon (with the camera on LG Voyager).
Interdisciplinary PowerPoint
I have a major presentation for one of my projects this coming Friday. The presentation is worth 40% of our project grade, which in turn is worth 35% of our grade. So in short, the 10 minute presentation is worth about 14% of our grade. Needless to say, I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to get it just right. One of the things that has been recently added to my repertoire of presentation techniques is clever use of fonts. In the very informal training/advice that I am getting from Richard Dongses, I’ve begun to appreciate how much the choice of font and arrangement of words on the screen can affect how people read/see things at first glance. It can even change the whole mood of the same picture/movie.
I think the same things goes for slides. I’ve thankfully gotten much better at doing presentations this semester because I’ve had a presentation like once ever couple weeks on average. I tried out some of the font techniques that I’ve been learning to use on Kairos Weekly Announcements.
This is the title slide.
This is one of my fancier looking slides. This has animations which brings each of the arrows in one at a time to explain a pretty complex query to an audience who is listening to it for the first time.
Kinda awkward negative space in the top left…

Life as a Cal Student — Justin Kim
Justin and I got up bright and early to take pictures for our photodecal today. We were to do a portrait project (same thing as what I did with Hubert last semester). I like the pics that we ended up with. By doing similar projects like this, I can personally see what I’ve learned over the course of the semester in terms of photography.

Meet Justin Kim.

Life as a Cal student is difficult. Supposed to be a contrast between the ominous Sproul Hall and Justin, who kinda looks nervous hahah.

Using some backlighting.

Justin’s world turned upside down.

Justin Kim. Intended BA in Sociology. Future Sociologist.

I guess he doesn’t like his major very much.

Justin pondering why he chose to be a Soc major when he could have been an IEOR major.

I discovered Justin on the wall of faces on campus. He didn’t tell me he was on there!
Kairos Sisters Get Baptized!
Three of our Kairos sisters got baptized today: Annie Strother, Nancy Cen, and Jessica Townsend. Congrats to you all!
Here are someĀ pics from today; I just took some group shots.

Nancy was running around for a bit because all the sisters were trying to give her hugs and Nancy doesn’t like hugs hahahhaha. Congrats Nancy!

“Congratulations Aunties! And thank you for these chips!”
Kairos Weekly Announcements
The juniors are slowly starting to take over the Kairos Weekly Announcements. We’ve made two so far. I think they’re funnier if you watch them in order.
This first one was an announcement from a couple weeks back plugging Thanksgiving Celebration.
This is the one that was shown yesterday at Bible Study to get people pumped for Christmas Gift Exchange!
Hope you enjoy! More to come next week and next semester!
D2D 12.03.09
I’ve really been slacking on the whole picture taking thing, but have been delving into video bit by bit so that’s been fun. Anyhow here are some pics from today…

The trees around Berkeley are getting really pretty. I’ve been walking to Etcheverry in the morning on purpose instead of taking the bus to look at trees and enjoy the air.. it’s so nice and crisp. And I love when the fog rolls in in the evening. Something about fog… I just like it. It’s so mysterious.

Vanguard’s living room turns into a movie studio every once in a while. The next Kairos announcement is online… if you can find it.

We dressed Kevin up as Stephen Chee hahahahhahaha. Kevin’s been typecast by his peers … not sure what his character is. Whoever he is though, he’s really funny.
Kairos Thanksgiving Dinner
This post is long overdue. I never put up these pics on this blog for some reason but they’ve been on my SmugMug for a while.

One of the tables. I chose them ’cause they seemed the jolliest.

Kairos group shot.

The most awesome class of all.

Completely unrelated, but couldn’t resist.
That’s all, rest of the table pics and group pics are on here.
Also, I didn’t have my camera with me during Thanksgiving break back in SoCal so no pictures for the time being! Also, as a side note, if you know anyone who is interested in going full frame and wants a good deal on a Canon 5D, let me know :]
